Child Guidance Center is proud to announce Turtle Trails, a public art project scheduled for exhibition late March through August 2009. Whimsical decorated fiberglass sea turtles will brighten the city and surrounding areas, spotlight local artists, and most importantly, create funding for mental health services and programs for children and families through Child Guidance Center. Turtles are known for being fantastic swimmers and water lovers. What better place for them to swim than right here in the beautiful waters of the First Coast? The River City is an ex-shell-ent place for the Turtles to make a splash!
Painted by First Coast artists, students and citizens, the larger than life-sized turtles will nest in public places throughout North Florida. Turtles will swim throughout Jacksonville, in front of high profile venues, in parks and even floating around some of Jacksonville’s favorite hot spots.
Turtle Trails will celebrate our civic pride, providing a unique event for area residents, while also serving as a promotional vehicle for Jacksonville. Local business leaders and individuals will have the chance to highlight their dedication to the arts as well as demonstrate their commitment to Jacksonville and its children. Turtle Trails will recognize the talents of area artists while generating needed funding for mental health service programs for children and their families.
We'd like to thank all of our sponsors and partners who are helping make Turtle Trails such a swimming success. All proceeds raised from this project go directly to Child Guidance Center and its programs.
